Andretti Indoor Karting originally had four Formula 1 style sims, but customers had trouble getting in and out of the sims and were uncomfortable when in the sims because of the awkward configuration of F1 seating. SimGear came in and provided our own simulators to alleviate some of the problems Andretti Indoor Karting was dealing with.

When SimGear started working with Andretti Indoor Karting, they had four F1-style sims on a 33-foot platform. Due to the nature of F1 seating, customers were having a difficult time getting in and out of the sim. Heavier customers did not want to be seen struggling to get in or out, and those wearing dresses or skirts also did not want to be in the laydown F1 seating. Overall, getting out was uncomfortable and difficult for most.
While they had four racing sims, only one race could be run at a time. This became an issue when more than two people were trying to race at one time. For example, if two people were already racing and another two walked up, they had to wait for the first race to finish before they could race themselves. This increased the wait time and confused the customers.
To solve Andretti Indoor Karting’s problems, SimGear built our sim to be slim so they could fit six pods in the footprint that used to have four. We also moved Andretti Indoor Karting away from the F1 style seat to make it more comfortable for all customers. Additionally, with more simulators and our Venue Management System, it allowed for multiple sessions to be run at once. So, if two people are racing and two walk up, you can start a second race and even a third race for another two people. With this setup, there’s no limitation allowing for multiple combinations of people. On top of a new setup, SimGear included LEDs on the side that show rev lights, and brakes were a great visual addition to get more eyes on the sim and make it more exciting.
